This iconic event, held only once every five years, brings together an impressive fleet of tall ships, historic ships and naval vessels from around the world. The waters of the IJ transform into a living museum full of majestic sailboats, modern naval vessels and everything in between.

What is SAIL?

SAIL is more than a collection of boats; it is a celebration for everyone who loves the sea and its history. This year is extra special because we are celebrating not only the rich maritime history, but also the 750th anniversary of our beautiful city of Amsterdam. During five days a variety of events will take place on and around the water, from spectacular sailing races and impressive fleet charters to musical performances and cultural festivities.
